Dr. Samuel E.Selzer (1)

Education:  Dr. Seltzer earned his BS degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and his medical degree from the Milton J. Hershey Medical School of The Pennsylvania State University.  He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Seltzer then received his ophthalmology training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, New York.

Professional:  Dr. Seltzer is a board certified ophthalmologist, a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Seltzer has designed instruments for microscopic ophthalmic surgery.  Dr. Seltzer is also an Investigator for a number of ophthalmic clinical research trials being conducted at Carolinas Centers for Sight, P.C. While at Yale, Dr.Seltzer co-authored an article in the Journal of Molecular Biology with Dr. Aziz Sancar, the 2015 co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dr. Seltzer is affiliated with McLeod Regional Medical Center, Loris Healthcare System and Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center.

Specialties:  Dr. Seltzer specializes in small-incision cataract surgery and has performed over 50,000 intraocular cataract and laser surgeries.  He also specializes in the use of ReSTOR and Toric lenses to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after cataract surgery.  Dr. Seltzer, a truly innovative ophthalmologist, has brought bladeless laser cataract surgery to the Pee Dee with the LenSx Laser. Dr. Seltzer also specializes in the treatment of evaporative dry eye with the LipiFlow procedure.
